Job Responsibilities
- Support prototype system build activities including low-volume system builds for motorsports applications
- Provide mechanical assembly and installation assistance to support engine, powertrain, and vehicle related engineering programs
- Conduct builds measurements, as required, to the specifications provided by the lead technician and / or engineers
- Execute build and assembly plans for powertrain related components or systems
- Utilize critical thinking skills to develop unique assembly solutions when design prints are incorrect or non-existent
- Consult with and provide feedback to design, analysis, and development engineering teams on build and assembly related matters
- Assist engineers with creating build documents (assembly manuals, BOMs, etc.) for internal or external customer projects
- Fit parts to geometric design tolerances specified on prints supplied by engineering teams
- Work with design engineers to check drawings for feasibility and manufacturability
- Maintain a high level of workshop organization, throughput, and efficiency through continuous adherence to and development of workshop processes
- Provide recommendations to supervisors and managers on parts or equipment that are needed to improve workshop capabilities and throughput
- Communicate with customers and ensure maximum customer satisfaction with workshop related outputs
Job Qualifications
- 2+ years of prototype build experience in the automotive environment
- Experience with Engine building in an automotive environment
- Knowledge of powertrain build and assembly operations and best practices
- Ability to “think outside the box” and develop creative and unique solutions based on prior skills and experience
- Experience in and an understanding of a powertrain build and test environment
